Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit Course (AZ CCW Course)

The Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit course (AZ CCW) is a firearms safety course designed to provide a general introduction to firearms and pistol shooting.  The course curriculum includes detailed instruction in Firearms Safety, Types of Firearms, Firearm and Ammunition Selection, Firearm Maintenance, Mental Conditioning, Concealed and Open Carry Methods, Range Qualification, Personal Protection, Non-Lethal Force Options, Conditions and circumstances associated with the use of Lethal Force and Arizona Law and the legal issues related to Concealed Weapons Carry.

This course curriculum meets or exceeds all state requirements for the Arizona CCW Permit.  The course is 8 hours, delivered over one day of instruction, generally either Saturday or Sunday. Participants must be at least 21 years of age. Required equipment includes an appropriate firearm (no single action revolvers), a quality, strong-side holster (no fanny packs, belly bands, shoulder or small-of-back holsters) and at least 50 rounds of ammunition.

You will learn:

  • The Four Rules of Firearms Safety
  • Safe storage and handling of a firearm in the home
  • Negligent discharge avoidance / maintaining control of your firearm
  • Where you can and cannot legally carry a concealed firearm
  • Arizona law relating to the use of non-lethal and lethal force
  • When you are justified in using force to defend you or your family
  • About the “Combat Triad” of Mindset, Marksmanship and Gun Handling
  • How to load, unload and clear most common malfunctions of your pistol
  • How to become aware of your surroundings and spot potential crime
  • Life strategies to avoid becoming a victim of violent crime
  • Basic firearm stance, grip and aiming techniques

All AZ CCW Courses in Phoenix are delivered at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility located at 4044 W. Black Canyon Blvd., Phoenix, AZ

The $99 course fee includes all instructional and application materials as well as fingerprinting.  It does not include the $60 permit application fee which is payable to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.  You do not need to bring the DPS application fee to the course.
